By Raymond Howard

For ages, human beings have relied on wits and the tools they have on possession to survive the harsh world that is presented to them. The biggest thing that people have relied on is the ability to see and perceive things. This has given man not only the ability to find and gather the needed resources to live and survive but also to check the surroundings and adapt to how many changes are happening during that time.

The sense of sight has given mankind a lot of things over the thousands of years. Not only does it help in finding food and shelter but with the growth of culture, has given them the magic of creation. With the use of vision, man started to create things and paint. These creations were eventually called art and art institute Pennsylvania help many students pursue this path and improve the skills they have.

An activity that is made by human beings in a visual format with the purpose of expressing ones purposes, ideas, the emotions felt, or just how the person views the world is classified as art. This has always been how art, as it is generally tied to making paintings and sculptures and other forms that involve using hands. But over the years, the term of visual arts had been classified.

Back in mediaeval time, there were only two that had a classification for these set of activities. These were known as the liberal style and the mechanical style of making things. In its growth, the classifications had grown over time that is has been there. In a contemporary setting, the definitions have grown much larger.

The collapse of Roman Empire had brought upon new changes in its dying years. Many kingdoms and empires had risen up to take the honor that which Rome held for centuries on end. This change had brought about the Middle Ages for mankind and with it, new forms and methods were brought as well as different standards.

The dominance of the church had massive influences on what kind of works were created. The influences of biblical images were massive as most are based on things that are divine and ethereal. The art in middle ages had mainly focused on the many wonders of haven and how great God was its people. There really was no need to depict the material world as the divine was a much better inspiration.

After the middle ages had come and went by, newer things had come to take over. The renaissance had come and with its coming, a change for artistic standards was made with it. The artist of that era now started to go to making works that referenced the physical and material world instead of heavenly images and biblical images as well. It is good to note that most famous work that came from this era was still inspired by religion.

The massive history of artwork is a fascinating one to behold. Many great and wonderful things have come from it and many had become known throughout the world because of what they have made. All these past works reflect upon what the time period believed at that time and what state these people were in.

The art often times reflect what people see in real life and thus, often imitates it. Lots of students and different artisans have enrolled in programs to better themselves in process. Thanks to this, many have gone out and created many wonderful things found in todays world.
