Why You Must Have A Concert Promoter

By Patrick Perry

Did you know that the sound quality gets better at a live event than on recorded music? Live music is customizable and can be changed when something unexpected happens. These are among the activities that make concerts memorable. A lot goes into organizing such events. A good concert promoter is very handy to work out the logistics and put together a successful event.

Considering what the professional does would make it easy to understand the value they bring in. They are the ones who inform the public about the planned live performance. They draft all the advertisements and marketing tools that will be used to inform about the performance. They realize that they need to send out this information in a way that the public will want to attend and thus buy the tickets that are on sale.

Music promoter must first of all be a lover of music. They need to have the passion for music and be a fan of the performer. That will make their promotion passionate. They want to show the public that the performance will be one of a kind and they must not miss it. The enthusiasm in promoting the performance comes with love for music. They also must support the artist so that he concentrates on his performance preparation.

They will need to take charge of the venue bookings, arrangement or set up. This may mean making several visits and discussions with the owners of the venue. They in effect would promote both the venue and the performance. They need to understand what goes into this planning so that they stay on top of all arrangements.

It follows that the promoter should be well equipped with knowledge and skills to perform the job. Of course, they need formal education to be able to communicate. They also need negotiation skills to be able to negotiate with all the players involved in the event. Their focus is on ensuring they reach the right audience with the messages and that tickets to the event are sold out.

They also must know how to deal with people. Consultation back and forth is necessary, with the venue owners, the artist and all the stakeholders involved. This has to run smoothly for the overall goal of a successful top performance. The professional gets the views of all those involved and uses the same to make logical decisions.

When a concert fails, the blame is put on the promoter and not the artist. Consider why. Promoters technically handle all the logistics. He identifies the best venue, suggests best timing and markets the whole event. He only consults with the artist on a few issues like dates. If anything goes wrong, they will be held accountable.

They also take care of the performer. They arrange his travel and lodging at the venue. They do everything possible so that the performer is relaxed and able to give their best performance. The promoter also arranges the logistics for sound checks and determines the duration of the performance.
