How To Become A Corporate Narrator

By David Peterson

The need for narrators in organizations and corporate bodies never dies. There are new materials to be produced and products to be displayed. This means that a corporate narrator will always have gigs and can make a career out of it. However, this is a sensitive field that requires extra caution. How can you take up the opportunity and thrive?

Master and polish your language. The materials that you voice-over are circulated far and wide. They are also heavily relied upon for training and other company uses. This means that you must capture the pronunciation and intonation of these words and sentences accurately. It takes a lot of effort to master this skill. Work on it and standout during auditions.

Master the culture, uniqueness and products of companies you wish to represent. The best narrations are those produced out of passion. They resonate with listeners or the audience because the voice is perfect for the context and product. This makes the narration to feel as though it is delivered from the heart of the organization and not just a reader going manually through a script. It is this passion that improves the quality of your delivery.

Companies are sensitive about their brands. They will not engage any talent that is likely to compromise their reputation. People begin to associate voices with products and brands. This means that a bad reputation will see companies declining to hire your talent. Once your reputation is damaged in the industry, you have no room to recover it.

Participate in auditions and trials whenever they are held. This is an opportunity to expose your talent and voice. It will capture the attention of scouts who will give you a job now or in future. Failure to attend auditions means that your voice will remain forever hidden. No one will know that you have an amazing voice until you are willing to take it out into the public.

Distribute samples of your work to recruiting agencies and organizations that would be interested in your talent. You must always have the audios prepared as opposed to recording them in a hurry whenever they are required. You learn of some projects or auditions with a short deadline and have no opportunity to go to the studio. With a ready audio, you just present it and avoid missing the opportunity.

Nurture your voice. Narrators use their voices as their work tools. If the voice is damaged, you do not stand any chance of getting a gig. With an excellent voice, there are always opportunities that you can exploit. Take the right foods and drink plenty of water. Avoid shouting and anything that may cause damage to the voice like foods or excessive alcohol. Rest for sufficient hours and prepare practice different production skills on regular basis to prepare for opportunities when they arise.

You need to be outgoing to get a chance to narrate for companies. Have a distinct voice that is clear and can be manipulated based on need. Showcase your talent at every opportunity possible to ensure that organizations give you a chance. When you have gotten the least of gigs, give it your best.
